Few things are more important than the well-being and health of our children. Committed to health education, Zeeland Community Hospital works to teach and encourage healthy living to the youth of our community. We care about our children. We care about health. We care about our children's health.
Our Learn for Life! program currently touches nearly 3,700 students in area elementary and middle schools. Learn for Life! topics focus on fitness, safety, and healthy eating. To begin fulfilling these educational needs, our community education coordinators work with Teacher Teams to select educational materials that complement each school's curriculum and character.
Teachers within each participating school supplement their curriculum with educationally sound, health-focused learning experiences. These may include
- Guest chefs teaching students about foods from around the world
- Fitness Fairs with fitness stations (and representatives from Grand Rapids pro sports teams)
- Violence prevention activities
- Asthma education programs
- And many other programs
