Digital Mammography The Best in Mammography Screening Technology

Digital Mammography woman and childDigital mammography is the most advanced imaging technology available for breast cancer detection.

At ZCH, our digital mammography system provides excellent image quality, patient safety and unique features that distinguish it from other digital systems, including:

  • The use of an amorphous selenium direct conversion detector. This technology produces incredibly sharp digital images by completely eliminating the image-degrading effects of light diffusion found on other digital mammography systems.
  • Exceptional diagnostic tools that support more confident diagnoses and save valuable time.

We’re proud to be recognized as a certified Pink Ribbon Facility. Our online resources provide additional information regarding womens' health.

Early Detection = Hope

Statistically, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  With early detection and treatment, over 90% of breast cancer patients can survive.

How is digital mammography different than conventional mammography?

Digital mammography differs from conventional mammography in terms of how the image of the breast is acquired and, more importantly, viewed. The radiologist can magnify images, increase or decrease the contrast and invert the black and white values while reading the images. These features allow the radiologist to better evaluate microcalcifications and focus on areas of concern.

Incredibly sharp breast images appear on the technologist’s monitor in a matter of seconds. There is no waiting for film to develop, which means less time in the breast imaging suite for patients.

There is also a reduced need for repeat exams due to under- or over-exposure, which can happen with traditional mammography methods. Digital images are also easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of original films.
