Hospitalists Improve Patient Care
ZCH offers hospitalist services to better serve patients as well as physicians. ZCH hospitalists care for individuals admitted to the hospital who may not be a patient of a physician on the hospital’s medical staff. Should an attending (primary care) physician choose, the ZCH hospitalist will work with the physician to manage the care of their patient during hospitalization.
Did you know?
Since the mid 1990s, the number of hospitalists, a new breed of physicians who specialize in caring for hospitalized patients (inpatients), has emerged. The number of hospitalists has grown from a few hundred to more than 8,000. So what’s driving the increase? According to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, on average, hospitalists are able to:
- reduce patient length of stay by one day
- reduce cost of care
- enhance efficiency or operations
- improve patient satisfaction.
