Getting Ready to Come to ZCH Your Hospital Stay or Procedure

We are here to help you heal and to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Information patients commonly ask about can be accessed in our Patient Handbook.  (793 KB, PDF)

ZCH is backed by a strong network of departments and has an experienced team of professionals who will provide extraordinary care for you or your loved one.

Medical Staff

During your stay your doctor or a hospitalist will oversee your care. A hospitalist is a specially trained doctor who cares for patients while in the hospital. A hospitalist works in partnership with your primary care doctor and other specialists who may care for you.

Nursing Team

24-hour nursing care is provided by a team of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care assistants. A Patient Care Manager (PCM) is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care on each unit. Please contact the PCM or your nurse if you have questions or concerns.

When you are admitted for inpatient care, an Admission Ambulatory Registered Nurse (AARN) gathers information within the first 24 hours of your stay. She will help you and your care team implement your specific treatment plan. A case manager is also available for assistance with discharge needs.

Other Members of the Team

During your stay you may be visited by many other healthcare professionals, including staff from our Laboratory, Radiology, and Cardiopulmonary Departments, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or members of our Housekeeping and Nutrition Services Departments.
