Visiting ZCH

Birthing Babies As an important part of a patient’s recovery and well-being, family and friends are welcome to visit anytime. For room numbers and directions, visit the Information Desk in the Main Lobby.

Visiting Hours

Support from family and friends is important to a patient's well-being, so visiting hours are individualized for each patient.  A sign can be placed on the door if your loved one needs quiet time alone.  As a patient, you may decide who can visit.  Our staff will also direct calls and unannounced visitors as you wish.

If you come to visit between 6am and 9pm, please enter via the main entrance.  After this time, please use the Emergency Department entrance.

Visiting Guidelines

  • To protect the health and safety of all patients, ZCH may impose limitations or restrictions on visitors if the visitation would interfere with the care of the patient or other patients.
  • People with coughs, colds, flu symptoms or any contagious diseases should not visit patients.
  • Please keep voices low and avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Keep all cell phones, pagers and transmitting devices on vibrate.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room during procedures or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
  • Visits may have to be kept short depending on the patient’s needs.
  • Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Due to concerns with allergies, latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital.

Family Birth Center

We know family and friends are eager to see their loved one and newborn as soon as possible after delivery. We allow parents to decide when they want visitors. Family and friends can call the Team Center at 616.772.7530 to see if the patient is taking visitors. If they are not, visitors are always welcome in the Family Birth Center’s spacious waiting room.

Intensive Care Unit

Visitors are encouraged to spend time with their loved one to promote healing and comfort in the ICU.  At times, the care team may need to restrict the number of visitors to allow for adequate rest or care.
